Rock Hill
The City, founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1892, is located in the eastern central area of York County, South Carolina, 25 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina. The City encompasses approximately 31.82 square miles. It is the largest city in York County and the fifth largest city in South Carolina.
The City is considered to be one of the most progressive municipalities in the State of South Carolina and has become a planning prototype for the entire Charlotte Metropolitan Statistical Area. The overall economic condition of the City continues to lead both state and national indicators.
Public and private elementary, secondary, and post-sescondary educational opportunties in Rock Hill mark the City's strong commitment to learning at all levels. With an enrollment of 14,810, Rock Hill School District Number Three is the largest of York County's four school systems. Its 22 atttendance centers include a vocational training center, two high schools, four middle schools, and fifteen elementary schools.
