Lake Norman Area

Welcome to Lake Norman - 34 miles long, 520 miles of shoreline - the lake provides plenty of opportunity for fun in the sun on the largest manmade lake in the Carolinas. Four counties border Lake Norman: Mecklenburg, Catawba, Lincoln, and Iredell. Lake Norman is in close proximity to the big city activities of Charlotte (only 15 minutes north of the Queen City), only two hours from the mountains of western North Carolina and only four hours from the coast. This great location creates an ideal business lifestyle for corporate business, retail and those who want to work and live here.

Cruise the lake on your own boat, catch the fish of your dreams or picnic at waters edge at one of our four lakeside parks. The lake was filled into the Catawba River Valley in 1963 and spans from Cowan's Ford Dam at Highway 73 in the South to its top, north of I-40, more than 25 miles.
